Sunday spottings at Rockhampton Airport

Ventured to Rockhampton Airport on Sunday, September 25 to film and photograph military movements associated with 'Exercise Wallaby 2016', but also took an opportunity to capture some of the civilian activity.

Among the sightings was Jetgo Australia Embraer ERJ-135LR VH-JZG making the usual stop at Rockhampton while operating from Townsville to Gold Coast as JG070. The 37-seat Embraer later returned to the beef capital while operating the return service to Townsville as JG073.

BK Hire Piper PA-31-350 Chieftain VH-TTX made a stop at Rockhampton to take onboard fuel while flying from Bowen to Toowoomba.

Cessna 172S VH-ZDX operated by the Rockhampton Aero Club departed on a couple of occasions for a local flight. As it happens to be, my eldest son enjoyed a scenic flight to Yeppoon and back aboard VH-ZDX, and many thanks to local pilot Brendan Bowles for allowing Luke to occupy a vacant seat.

Another single engine lightie operated by the Rockhampton Aero Club is Cessna 172P VH-XUI, and also took to the local skies on a couple of occasions but for flying training which consisted mainly of circuits.

Despite windy conditions and the temperature climbing above 30 degrees celsius, it was a great day of planespotting at Rockhampton and have much more to share over the next few days. Stay tuned !
