Skydive Airlie Beach - The Whitsundays

Owned and operated by New South Wales based, Skydive the Beach Group, Skydive Airlie Beach is one of many thrill seeker adventure providers located at The Whitsundays, and can be found operating from their own facility at Shute Harbour / Whitsunday Airport.

Many jumps with Skydive Airlie Beach are conducted from 14000ft which not only allows up to 60secs of freefall at over 200km/h, but an approximate five - seven minute canopy ride providing ample time to take-in the spectacular views of The Whitsundays.

Skydivers are then picked-up by a courtesy vehicle and transported back to the facilities of Skydive Airlie Beach. Jumpers can also film thier adrenalin filled experiance on handycam to share with family and friends for many years to come.

Providing the means to uplift and transport skydivers to the drop zone is Cessna 208 Caravan VH-OAI, and as can be seen in photo's below, has been suitably modified to provide a safe launching platform for skydivers. Of interest, 'OAI' has been nicked named by local pilots, "Angry Smurf".

For smaller groups, Gippsland Aeronautics GA8-TC-320 Airvan VH-YBA is also based at Shute Harbour / Whitsunday Airport.
